Job Description

This Analyst role is within our European Leveraged Finance team. Reporting to the EMEA Head of Research, you will work closely with portfolio managers to evaluate credit opportunities. Your responsibilities will focus on rigorous, credit-focused fundamental research across the entire corporate capital structure, and the ongoing monitoring of investments within High Yield, Leveraged Loan, and Long/Short Credit portfolios. You will be a key contributor to the team's success.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth fundamental credit research encompassing the entire corporate capital structure.
• Collaborate with a senior analyst to cover one or more industry sectors, analyzing and interpreting the economic, competitive, and political factors influencing a borrower's creditworthiness.
• Contribute and present trade ideas to portfolio managers, participating actively in relative value and trade structuring discussions.
• Network effectively with management teams, industry experts, fellow analysts, sell-side analysts, and other investment professionals to gather information and insights.
• Synthesize and analyze diverse information sources to develop comprehensive, well-researched, long-term investment theses on credits, sectors, and issuers.
• Develop robust historical and projected financial models, analyze key financial and operational metrics, and perform thorough valuations.
• Clearly and effectively communicate credit opinions and investment recommendations, both verbally and in writing, to portfolio managers, other analysts, credit and advisory committees, and external clients. This includes preparing presentations and written reports.

Education Qualification

• Possession of 1-3 years of experience in credit/financial statement analysis, with demonstrated experience analyzing companies, fixed income securities, and equity investments.
• An MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Finance with a strong academic record is required; a CFA charter is a significant advantage.

Skills

• Advanced proficiency in financial analysis and modeling, with specific experience in at least one of the following areas: company analysis, fixed income securities analysis, or equity investment analysis. Experience across multiple areas is highly valued.
• Exceptional skills in Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis are essential.
• Demonstrated familiarity with bond and loan covenants; experience with leveraged loan credits and syndication processes is beneficial but not mandatory.
• A highly inquisitive and analytical mindset with a meticulous and thorough approach to work.
• Ability and desire to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely is crucial.
• Fluency in English is required.
