Job Description

The position of Embedded Engineer is open at Fortive!

Responsibilities

  • Design, Develop, and Maintain Firmware: You will be in charge of creating, modifying, and maintaining embedded systems' hardware as well as firmware. The industrial network communication standard Fieldbus communication will be the main topic of discussion.
  • Integrate Communication Stacks: Whether the firmware is newly installed or already in place, integrate different fieldbus protocols including TCP-IP, Ethernet IP, Profibus DP, EtherCAT, PROFINET, and OPC-UA.
  • Test Strategies and Specifications: Develop test strategies and specify tests to qualify the developed fieldbus products.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary groups to incorporate and verify novel product concepts.
  • assist in forming and enhancing the Fieldbus development team.
  • Improve the Fieldbus encoder products by using input from users.
  • Travel abroad around 40% of the time throughout the onboarding process and 20% of the time after it is finished.

  • Experience: The ideal candidate will have solid software engineering work experience.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering is required of the candidate.
  • Practical Experience: Development and troubleshooting with embedded targets should be a strength of the candidate.
  • Programming Proficiency: The ideal candidate should be well-versed in C, C++, and C#.
  • Profinet, Profibus, EtherCAT, Ethernet IP, OPC-UA, and TCP-IP communication are examples of communication standards and protocols related to Fieldbus that the applicant should be familiar with.
  • Ability to Read Schematics: The applicant must possess the ability to read component data sheets and schematics.
  • Writing and Documentation Proficiency: The applicant should possess outstanding writing and documentation abilities.
  • Communication Skills: The ideal candidate would be highly skilled in communicating and have worked with international R&D teams in a variety of related fields, including type testing, system and software testing, and hardware and software development.
  • Knowledge of System-on-Chip Solutions: It is advantageous to have knowledge of system-on-chip solutions like Hilscher netX and Renesas.
