Job Description
Infinera is seeking a meticulous and technically skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to rigorously validate, test, and ensure the highest quality standards for our advanced optical network planning and simulation software. The successful candidate will possess a robust understanding of optical transport technologies, coupled with practical experience in software QA or testing within the telecommunications sector. This individual will play a critical role in verifying the accuracy, performance, and reliability of our next-generation tools.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of optical network planning tools, including those utilized for DWDM, OTN, ROADM, and GMPLS, to guarantee their accuracy, optimal performance, and unwavering reliability.
- Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, comprehensive test cases, and automated test scripts that align with both functional and technical specifications.
- Perform a variety of testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, and system testing, on both new and existing software modules to identify potential issues.
- Simulate and validate realistic, complex network scenarios utilizing the optical network planning tool to ensure its effectiveness in real-world applications.
- Identify, meticulously document, and diligently track software defects and anomalies using established bug tracking systems, such as JIRA and Bugzilla.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, experienced network engineers, and insightful product managers to effectively troubleshoot reported issues, optimize tool performance, and enhance functionality.
- Provide constructive feedback and insightful recommendations concerning usability, interface design, and the overall behavior of the product, contributing to its continuous improvement.
- Maintain comprehensive test documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility, and actively contribute to the ongoing refinement and enhancement of our quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, such as Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 0-2 years of practical experience in telecommunications or optical network testing and quality assurance.
- A thorough understanding of optical networking principles and technologies, including DWDM, SDH/SONET, OTN, Ethernet, ROADM, and various fiber topologies.
- Hands-on experience with optical network planning and design tools is essential.
- Familiarity with Layer 0/1/2 network topologies and fundamental traffic engineering principles.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing test management and defect tracking tools, such as JIRA and TestRail.
- Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python, Selenium, and Rest API, for test automation purposes is highly desirable.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Currently, the U.S. Department of Commerce mandates that any foreign person whose most recent citizenship or permanent residency is in Sudan, Ukraine, or a country listed in Country Group D:1, E:1, or E:2 (Supplement No. 1 to Part 740, Title 15) must possess an export control license to access our Export-Controlled Information, unless they qualify for specific exemptions under U.S. export control laws and regulations. The U.S. government may periodically update the list of countries included in Country Group D:1, E:1, or E:2. The typical processing time for obtaining an export control license is approximately 4 to 6 months.
Your employment or engagement with Infinera will be contingent upon verification of your eligibility or the necessity of securing a license and/or authorization from the relevant government agency. As such, you will be required to furnish certain information for export control compliance assessments. This information will be reviewed by Infinera’s hiring and export control teams to ensure adherence to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
