As a Software Engineer in the Data Center Business Unit at Cisco, you will be instrumental in advancing networking technologies, specifically focusing on the development of cutting-edge Ethernet Switching products designed for modern network infrastructures, including those supporting AI, cloud computing, and enterprise environments. This role offers extensive learning opportunities in core Ethernet Technologies and architectural insights into crafting Ethernet Switching solutions for both Public and Private cloud infrastructure. You will contribute to the critical infrastructure that powers the world-class, multi-layered Nexus switches. Furthermore, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration, experiencing the complete software development lifecycle from initial innovation and marketing requirements to final product delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop system software for Ethernet Switch Products.
• Develop SDKs for next-generation, feature-rich network ASICs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Hardware, ASIC, Marketing, and Testing groups to successfully bring developed products to market.
• Engage in and drive innovation through close collaboration with Distinguished and Principal Engineers, with a focus on Scale, Performance, and Reliability.

Qualifications

• BSEE/CS degree combined with 0-2 years of related experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience with network programming and protocols.
• Strong working knowledge of Networking Technologies such as L2/L3/VXLAN/MPLS/ACL/QOS.
• Proven understanding of Operating Systems and Distributed Systems.
• Hands-on experience in Switch/Router Software Development.
• Prior experience in developing SDKs for Custom/Merchant ASICs is considered a strong plus.
