Job Description
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory is seeking applications from eligible Indian citizens for 22 vacancies in the Group ‘C’, Non-Gazetted posts of Multi Tasking Staff. The recruitment is for various specializations, including general matriculation pass, ITI in Electrician, Carpenter, Fitter, Plumber, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) trades. Responsibilities vary by post code and include a range of technical, maintenance, cleaning, administrative assistance, and operational duties. The selection process involves shortlisting followed by a Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination. The final selection will be based on the merit list of this examination. Responsibilities
- Physical maintenance of records of the Section/Unit.
- General cleanliness and upkeep of the Section/Unit.
- Carrying of files and other papers within the building.
- Photocopying.
- Other non-clerical work in the Section/Unit.
- Assisting in routine office work like diary, despatch, including on computer.
- Delivering of dak (outside the building).
- Watch and ward duties.
- Opening & Closing of rooms.
- Cleaning of rooms and furniture.
- Cleaning of building fixtures.
- Upkeep of parks, lawns, potted plants.
- Driving of vehicles, if in possession of a valid driving license.
- Installation, maintenance, and repairing of electrical machinery, equipment, and fittings.
- Positioning and installation of electrical motors, transformers, switch gears, switch boards, microphone, loud speakers, and other electrical equipment, fittings, and lighting fixtures.
- Connecting and soldering terminals.
- Construction, repair, restoration, and installation of structures such as floors, doors, walls, windows, stairways, furniture, cabinets, shelves, and roofs.
- Operation and performance of preventative maintenance on hand and power tools.
- Assisting in general fitting work involving filling, cutting, and threading of ferrous or non-ferrous materials.
- Laying, assembly, installation, and maintenance of sanitary fittings and fixtures, sewage and drainage systems, heating and sanitary systems, gas and water pipelines.
- Receiving instructions from Sanitary Engineer or Civil Engineer regarding layout of pipes, gas or water mains, and positions of fixtures and fittings.
- Examining drawings or specifications regarding size and dimensions of areas where sanitary fittings or pipes are to be fitted or laid.
- Marking points to indicate positions for fixing brackets and laying pipes.
- Drilling passage holes in walls or floors.
- Fixing necessary brackets, stands, and holders to hold fittings and fixtures in position using nuts, bolts, clamps, etc., and tightening them with hand tools.
- Repair & Operation of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems for preserving food, providing cooling or warming media for industrial processes, cooling or warming buildings, or for other purposes.
- Entering commands, using computer terminal, and activating controls on computer and peripheral equipment to integrate and operate equipment.
- Monitoring the system for equipment failure or errors in performance.
- Notifying supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment malfunctions.
- Responding to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program.
- Reading job set-up instructions to determine equipment to be used, order of use, material such as disks/drives and paper to be loaded, and control settings.
- Operation of spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and to produce reports.
- Retrieval, separation, and sorting of program output as needed, and sending data to specified users.
- Loading of selected materials for operating runs, or overseeing loading of peripheral equipment by peripheral equipment operators.
- Answering telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problems.
- Any other work assigned by superiors from time to time.
Qualifications
- 10th/Matriculation or its equivalent pass (for Post Code M 01).
- ITI pass in Electrician Trade (for Post Code M 02).
- ITI pass in Carpenter Trade (for Post Code M 03).
- ITI pass in Fitter Trade (for Post Code M 04).
- ITI pass in Plumber Trade (for Post Code M 05).
- ITI pass in Air Condition (AC) & Refrigeration Trade (for Post Code M 06).
- ITI pass in Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) Trade (for Post Code M 07).
