Job Description
NHPC Limited is conducting a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates for the post of Trainee Engineer. This recruitment is specifically for Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines, utilizing GATE-2024 or GATE-2025 scores. The role involves a one-year training period followed by absorption as an Engineer/Officer, with attractive compensation and benefits. Placement will be at NHPC’s various operational sites, offices, or subsidiary companies across India and potentially abroad. Responsibilities
- Engage in a one-year training program as a Trainee Engineer.
- Upon successful completion of training, be absorbed as an Engineer/Officer.
- Contribute to the company’s projects and operations in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical disciplines.
- Participate in Group Discussions and Personal Interviews as part of the selection process.
- Adhere to company policies and recruitment rules.
Qualifications
- Full-time regular Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology / B.Sc. (Engineering) in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical discipline from a recognized Indian University / Institute approved by AICTE.
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade.
- AMIE (enrollment up to 31.05.2013) with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade is also considered.
- Must have appeared and secured a valid score in the corresponding paper of GATE-2024 or GATE-2025. Best score from either exam will be considered.
- Only specific disciplines within Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering are eligible as detailed in the advertisement.

Frequently Asked Questions
SC/ST and PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) candidates with 50% marks in their qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
OBC (NCL) category candidates are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 708/- (including applicable taxes). SC/ST/Women/PwBD/Ex-servicemen category candidates need not pay any registration fee.
The online registration site will be open from 1000 hours on 16 March, 2026, to 1700 hours on 06 April, 2026.
Only GATE-2024 or GATE-2025 scores (Normalized Marks out of 100) are valid for this recruitment process. GATE scores from any other year are not accepted.
Selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement and Surety bond. The amount is Rs. 4,00,000/- plus applicable GST for OBC (NCL) candidates and Rs. 2,00,000/- plus applicable GST for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
