Recent intern projects have included re-architecting our statistics aggregation service, developing innovative service discovery systems, and enhancing user-facing interfaces to improve the clarity of error messages within Stripe Checkout. Responsibilities

• Develop software that will be deployed in a production environment, making a significant contribution to Stripe’s operations.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions, providing and receiving constructive technical feedback.
• Engage with fellow engineers and cross-functional team members to proactively solicit and incorporate feedback into your work.
• Accelerate your learning by asking insightful questions, collaborating effectively with your intern manager and team, and clearly communicating the status of your work.

Qualifications

• Possession of a robust foundational understanding of computer science principles, acquired through enrollment in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience and familiarity with programming concepts, gained through personal projects or academic coursework. Our primary languages include Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go, and we are confident that individuals with strong fundamentals can learn new languages as needed.
• Practical experience from prior internships or collaborative projects, including open-source contributions, that showcase your ability to assess and integrate feedback from mentors, peers, and stakeholders.
• Capacity to quickly learn and comprehend unfamiliar systems, achieved through independent investigation and collaboration with a mentor and subject matter experts.
