Job Description

Responsibilities

• Participate in cross-functional projects, fostering direct collaboration with fellow engineers.
• Provide constructive and insightful feedback during code reviews and technical design discussions.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science or a closely related field, expected to be completed by summer 2026, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in programming, acquired through personal projects or academic coursework. Our primary programming languages include Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go. We believe that proficiency in new programming languages can be readily developed given a solid foundation in fundamental programming concepts and general knowledge.
• Practical experience gained through prior internships or collaborative work on multi-person coding projects, whether in an academic or professional environment.
• The ability to learn and comprehend unfamiliar systems through independent research and collaboration with mentors and subject matter experts.

In-Office Expectations

For office-assigned Stripes in the majority of our locations, a minimum of 50% of their time within a given month is expected to be spent working from their local office or engaging directly with users. This expectation is subject to variation depending on the specific role, team, and geographical location. For instance, Stripes based in our Bucharest, Romania office are expected to work in the office 80% of the time, while those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India are expected to work 100% from the office. Moreover, certain teams may have increased in-office attendance requirements to ensure appropriate support for users and workflows, as will be discussed by the hiring manager. This policy aims to strike a balance between fostering in-person collaboration and learning opportunities while also supporting flexibility where feasible.
