Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Visa’s Payment Digitization Platform is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Software Engineer to contribute to the advancement of our tokenization platform. As a member of a talented software team, you will work on critical applications and assume responsibility for Java/Java EE application development. Your expertise will be crucial throughout the entire software development lifecycle, encompassing concept and design phases through testing and implementation. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders to comprehend requirements, defining and implementing technical solutions, application development and maintenance, and integrating and managing REST-based services.

This position demands a passionate and proficient developer who can thrive within a dynamic environment as an integral member of Agile Scrum teams. Strong technology skills, adept problem-solving capabilities, proficiency in coding, testing, and debugging are essential. A commitment to actively contribute to the product backlog and consistently deliver production-ready code is a must. The ideal candidate will be prepared to go beyond routine tasks and contribute across a broad spectrum of responsibilities.

As a key contributor to the development team, the candidate should be comfortable advocating for technical concepts and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the technical design of solutions based on defined use cases and established business requirements.
• Conduct proof-of-concept exercises and other technical evaluations of technologies, designs, and potential solutions.
• Contribute to the creation of detailed design documentation and comprehensive use case specifications.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams to engineer solutions to complex technical challenges associated with high-profile business opportunities.
• Analyze existing solution architecture and design, proposing enhancements that increase business value, optimize performance, and improve overall quality.
• Adhere to and contribute to the refinement of best practices, guidelines, standards, and procedural guidelines.
• Articulate and present complex technical concepts in an accessible manner to peers and stakeholders.
• Ensure the incorporation of Visa’s business vision, current business environment context (both internal and external), and relevant technology and industry trends to achieve impactful results that drive Visa’s business objectives.
• This is a hybrid position. The specific expectation regarding the number of days required in the office will be communicated by the hiring manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree OR possess 1+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing applications utilizing Java EE platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented analysis and design, employing common design patterns and adhering to SOLID principles.
• A solid understanding of test-driven development methodologies.
• Creative, high-energy, and proactive problem-solving skills, coupled with an appropriate sense of urgency.
• A strong customer-centric focus with dedication to enhancing user experience.
• Proven experience working collaboratively with other project resources, including solution analysts, QA specialists, and architects, to cohesively deliver business benefits.
• Experience in estimating effort for changes and new projects, utilizing both model-based approaches and practical experience.
• Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to frame context, present complex ideas, and document information clearly and concisely while influencing outcomes.
• Capacity to manage and balance multiple projects and tasks effectively to meet deliverable dates, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to meet and exceed expectations.
• Understanding of and support for the documentation of best practice business processes to support Business Requirements.
• Comfortable operating in an environment characterized by rapid change and ambiguity, with the ability to make informed decisions while understanding the associated risks.
• Ability to function effectively within a complex, highly-matrixed, and regulated environment.
• Global/International experience and the demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
