Job Description

AstraZeneca is seeking an Associate Data Analyst to join their US BBU team. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence and technical proficiency in data management. The Associate Data Analyst will act as a key facilitator for communication and issue resolution, translating complex business requirements into actionable data solutions to improve decision-making and operational efficiency. The position involves guiding the development and deployment of innovative data products, leveraging analytical skills to provide insightful analyses that shape business strategy. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, user-centric design, and agile methodologies are integral to ensuring data products meet evolving business needs. The role requires a proactive approach to stay ahead of industry trends and best practices, and the ability to deliver clear, actionable insights will establish the individual as a valuable partner in business transformation. The Associate Data Analyst will foster stakeholder engagement and ensure data products exceed user expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and technical support for US BBU data management activities, including data quality management, business process workflows, and data management needs for downstream applications and tools.
• Offer operational troubleshooting and triaging for data processing, business user queries, data investigation, and ad-hoc analytics.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and basic ad-hoc analyses to support business teams.
• Serve as a liaison between Commercial/Medical stakeholders and IT for escalations and issue resolution.
• Assist in managing access, user roles, and updates across platforms like Sharp.
• Define and document detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements for data products.
• Advocate for a user-centric design approach to ensure data products are intuitive, accessible, and meet target user needs.
• Collaborate with the development team to plan and execute agile sprints, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.
• Present succinct and compelling reviews of independently developed analyses, highlighting insights and business implications/actions.
• Engage, build, and maintain credibility with the Commercial Leadership Team through strategic and critical thinking.

Qualifications

• Quantitative bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or Data Science.
• Proficiency in PBI, PowerApps (development & troubleshooting), SQL, Python, Databricks, and AWS S3 operations.
• Strong understanding of data governance, privacy standards, and operational best practices.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to develop and effectively communicate.
• Experience working in a business support or operational data management environment.
• Experience in defining and documenting detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements for data products.
• Advocacy for a user-centric design approach.
• Experience collaborating with development teams to plan and execute agile sprints.
• Experience presenting independent analyses with insights and business implications.
• Strategic and critical thinking abilities to engage and build credibility with Commercial Leadership Team.
• Exposure and understanding of at least seven from the following: ELAAD, APLD, HCP Segmentation, Targeting (Call plan), Alignment, SFO Structuring & Sizing, HCP Campaign – Digital Promotion & Measurement, Xponant data (sales data – Rx data), HCP Specialty Management Data, (DDD MD), Call Activity, Fingertip/Formulary (Plan PBM lives data).
• Knowledge of AZ brand and Science (desirable).
• Experience working with multiple 3rd party providers, including IT partners (desirable).
• Understanding of US BBU commercial and medical business functions (desirable).
• Experience with Sharp [Internal AZ platform] administration, Power Apps development, or troubleshooting (desirable).
