Responsibilities
- Consult with supervisors, systems analysts, other programmers, and end-users to gather comprehensive information regarding program intent, functionalities, features, data requirements, input/output specifications, internal/external checks and controls, hardware/operating system environments, and interfaces with other systems.
- Assist in the design and writing of detailed program specifications based on consultations with stakeholders.
- Translate designs and specifications into functional computer code.
- Compile code into executable programs and systematically correct any errors identified during the compilation process.
- Create test transactions and execute tests to identify and resolve errors, ensuring the program adheres to specified requirements.
- Analyze existing code to diagnose the root causes of errors and subsequently revise programs for optimal performance.
- Write and maintain thorough documentation detailing all changes made to computer code, programs, and specifications.
- Design and code user interfaces for on-screen displays, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
- Review user and technical documentation prepared by others to verify consistency with actual program operations.
- Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries concerning program errors, issues, or user questions.
- Revise programs to implement corrections, enhancements, or to adapt to changes in the system environment.
- Train end-users and technical support staff on the effective use and support of programs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university.

- Solid understanding of programming principles or computer science/engineering concepts.
- Familiarity with relational database schemas and SQL.
