Cartesia is dedicated to developing the next generation of artificial intelligence: a seamless and interactive intelligence accessible anywhere. Current AI models struggle to continuously process and reason using extensive streams of audio, video, and text data – specifically, 1 billion text tokens, 10 billion audio tokens, and 1 trillion video tokens – particularly on-device.

We are pioneering innovative model architectures to overcome these limitations. Our founding team, who previously collaborated as PhD candidates at the Stanford AI Lab, invented State Space Models (SSMs), which provides a novel method for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Job Description

As we establish our first office in India, we are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to contribute to our mission of developing real-time multimodal intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain low-latency, scalable, and reliable model inference and serving infrastructure for our advanced SSM foundation models.
• Collaborate closely with our research and product engineering teams to translate cutting-edge research findings into exceptional product offerings.
• Establish highly parallel and robust data processing and evaluation infrastructure to support the training of foundation models.
• You will have significant autonomy in shaping our products, and a direct impact on the application of advanced AI across a diverse array of devices and applications.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in software engineering, with the ability to navigate intricate codebases and monorepos effectively.
• A commitment to quality and the ability to produce clean, maintainable code.
• Adaptability to new technologies and a willingness to learn and apply your skills within our tech stack (Go and Python on the backend, Next.js for the frontend).
• Proven experience in building large-scale distributed systems with stringent performance, reliability, and observability requirements.
• Technical leadership skills, including the capacity to execute and deliver innovative solutions in ambiguous environments.
• [Bonus] Experience with machine learning and generative models is advantageous.
