Job Description

Intel's Processor Architecture Research Lab offers 3-year Research Fellowships, ideal for postdoctoral or pre-doctoral candidates seeking extensive industry experience before pursuing full-time faculty positions, PhD programs, or other industrial roles. Fellows engage in the entire research lifecycle, from identifying problems and developing research infrastructure to generating innovative ideas, evaluating results, and publishing research findings. Past and current fellows have contributed to end-to-end application characterization and cross-stack CPU/GPU/NPU optimizations to accelerate emerging cloud and AI applications. We welcome applicants with diverse skill sets, including expertise in algorithms and applications, compilers, system software, and hardware architecture and design. Successful candidates will be completing or have completed a PhD or MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from a top-tier university.

Education Qualification

• Candidates must possess a PhD or an advanced MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from a prestigious university. Prior research experience in either graduate school or industry is highly valued. Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: Strong software proficiency in C++/Perl/Python, along with experience using cycle-accurate (micro)architecture simulators and/or system software (compilers, runtimes, operating systems); Expertise in VLSI design and/or accelerator-based (micro)architecture; Expertise in characterizing emerging AI/Cloud workloads and developing workload-driven architectures.

Skills

• Candidates must have a PhD or advanced MS in EE/CS from a top University. Significant research experience from graduate school or industry is highly desirable. Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas is required: o Strong software expertise in C++/Perl/Python and experience with cycle-accurate (micro)architecture simulators and/or system software (compilers, runtimes, operating systems); o Expertise in VLSI design and/or accelerator-based (micro)architecture; o Expertise in characterizing emerging AI/Cloud workloads and developing workload-driven architectures.
