In addition to tactical problem-solving, the ROC is responsible for identifying trends in network exceptions, automating processes, and suggesting process improvements to optimize operations. This includes network monitoring and comprehensive analysis of network data. Ultimately, the ROC plays a pivotal role in maintaining the efficiency of Amazon’s transportation network, directly impacting the company’s ability to meet customer delivery promises.

Job Description

A Transportation Specialist within the ROC facilitates the exchange of information among various stakeholders, including carriers, hubs, and warehouses, while also addressing and resolving potential issues that could affect customer experience and business continuity.

Transportation Specialists at the ROC work within two primary operational areas: Inbound and Outbound.

* **Inbound (IB) Operations:** Focuses on managing relationships with vendors, shippers, carriers, and Amazon sites to guarantee timely freight pickup and delivery to designated destination sites according to pre-arranged schedules.

* **Outbound (OB) Operations:** Centers on managing relationships between Amazon sites, carriers, carrier hubs, and shipper destination sites, ensuring that outbound trucks depart from Amazon sites or shipper origin sites to deliver customer orders as committed.

* Transportation Specialists address potential issues arising during the pickup-to-delivery lifecycle, such as appointment scheduling conflicts, rescheduling needs, in-transit disruptions, and weather-related impacts.

* In addition to IB and OB operations, Transportation Specialists undertake various tasks, including load scheduling, load cancellations, network capacity management support, coordination with non-Amazon transportation entities (e.g., rail and sea organizations), management of remote gatehouses, and management of equipment availability and maintenance.

A Transportation Specialist provides timely resolution to issues by conducting research, utilizing internal tools, and making real-time decisions. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to understand the requirements of sites, carriers, shippers, and drivers, analyze data, and effectively communicate resolutions or necessary actions to maintain network speed and meet customer commitments. Candidates should have a basic understanding of logistics and possess clear written and verbal communication skills. A Transportation Specialist should also be capable of developing process improvement ideas and demonstrating the drive to implement them effectively.

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduates (18+ years of age) and graduates/postgraduates in any field.
• 0-5 years of experience in customer support or operations support.
