Job Description

As an Associate Data Analyst, you will be positioned at the forefront of driving operational excellence and enhancing technical proficiency within the US BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit (BBU) data management landscape. This crucial role requires a proactive individual capable of facilitating seamless communication and efficiently resolving complex data-related challenges. A core responsibility will involve meticulously translating intricate business requirements into practical, robust data solutions designed to significantly enhance decision-making processes and optimize overall operational efficiencies across the US BBU. Leveraging your profound expertise in data management, you will be instrumental in guiding the full lifecycle of innovative data product development and deployment. Responsibilities

• Delivering essential operational and technical support across all US BBU data management activities. This encompasses ensuring robust data quality management, optimizing critical business process workflows, and addressing the data management requirements for a variety of downstream applications and tools.
• Providing expert operational troubleshooting and efficient triaging for issues related to data processing, addressing business user queries promptly, conducting thorough data investigations, and performing ad-hoc analytics as needed to resolve challenges and inform decisions.
• Executing rigorous data validation and reconciliation procedures, alongside conducting foundational ad-hoc analyses to provide timely and accurate support to various business teams.
• Serving as a critical liaison and communication bridge between Commercial and Medical stakeholders and the IT department, facilitating seamless escalations and effective resolution of technical and data-related issues.
• Contributing to the administration of data platforms, including assisting with the management of user access, defining and updating user roles, and implementing necessary updates across key systems such as Sharp.

Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a quantitative field is mandatory. Acceptable disciplines include Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Data Acumen: A robust and comprehensive understanding of data governance principles, adherence to privacy standards, and the application of operational best practices within data management.
• Communication & Influence: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with a demonstrated ability to effectively influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly and persuasively.
• Professional Experience: 3 to 6 years of relevant professional experience in a business support or dedicated operational data management environment is required.
• Product Definition: Proven capability to meticulously define and document detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements to ensure the successful development and implementation of data products.
• User-Centric Design: A strong advocacy for a user-centric design approach, ensuring that all data products developed are intuitive, highly accessible, and precisely tailored to meet the specific needs of their target users.
• Agile Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to collaborate seamlessly with development teams, actively participating in the planning and execution of agile sprints to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality features and functionalities.
• Analytical Presentation: Skill in presenting concise, compelling, and insightful reviews of independently developed analyses, clearly articulating business implications and recommending actionable strategies for consideration.
• Strategic Engagement: Possess strategic and critical thinking abilities, combined with the capacity to effectively engage with, build rapport, and maintain strong credibility with the Commercial Leadership Team.
• Domain Exposure: Significant exposure to and understanding of at least seven of the following specific pharmaceutical business concepts and data types: ELAAD, APLD, HCP Segmentation, Targeting (including Call plan development), Alignment strategies, Sales Force Operations (SFO) Structuring & Sizing, HCP Campaign – Digital Promotion & Measurement, Xponant data (specifically sales data – Rx data), HCP Specialty Management Data (DDD MD), Call Activity, and Fingertip/Formulary (Plan PBM lives data).
• Highly Desirable Attribute: Familiarity with AstraZeneca’s core brands and scientific endeavors, demonstrating an understanding of the broader pharmaceutical industry context.
• Highly Desirable Attribute: Prior experience collaborating effectively with multiple third-party providers, including external information technology partners.
• Highly Desirable Attribute: An advanced capacity for strategic and critical thinking, further enhancing the ability to build and sustain strong, credible relationships with the Commercial Leadership Team.
• Highly Desirable Attribute: A comprehensive understanding of the commercial and medical business functions specific to the US BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit (BBU).
• Highly Desirable Attribute: Direct experience with Sharp (AstraZeneca’s internal platform) administration, or extensive experience in Power Apps development or troubleshooting beyond the essential requirements.
