Job Description

Swiggy is seeking a Data Scientist I with 0-3 years of experience to join their dynamic team in Bangalore. This role is pivotal in advancing Swiggy’s capabilities in data science and applied machine learning. The Data Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge ML-based solutions, particularly in areas like ad recommendations and campaign performance optimization. The position involves working with extensive historical data to identify and solve business and customer experience challenges, collaborating closely with engineering, product management, and analyst teams on technical designs and large-scale inference solutions. The role also emphasizes staying current with the latest advancements in ML research, especially concerning Ads Bidding algorithms and Recommendation Systems, and adapting them to Swiggy’s specific needs. The Data Scientist will contribute to the company’s knowledge base by publishing and presenting their work to diverse audiences and will have the opportunity to tackle impactful projects within the logistics domain. Integration of data-driven solutions into existing systems, development and deployment of ML/DL models, and end-to-end project ownership are key aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

• Leverage ML/DL/Statistics background to build new ML-based solutions for improving ad recommendation quality and optimizing campaign performance using various optimization techniques.
• Mine and extract relevant information from Swiggy’s historical data to identify and ideate solutions for business and customer experience problems.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, PMs, and analysts on detailed requirements, technical designs, and implementation of end-to-end inference solutions at Swiggy’s scale.
• Stay abreast of the latest ML research in Ads Bidding algorithms and Recommendation Systems and adapt findings to Swiggy’s problem statements.
• Publish and present work in internal and external forums to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work on challenging and impactful projects in the logistics domain.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers and product managers, to integrate data-driven solutions into systems.
• Develop and deploy machine learning and deep learning models.
• Take ownership of projects from inception to delivery, ensuring high-quality and impactful results.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in a quantitative field.
• 0-3 years of industry or research lab experience.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to deconstruct and formulate solutions from first-principles.
• Depth and hands-on experience in applying ML/DL and statistical techniques to business problems.
• Proven track record of developing and shipping ML and DL data products.
• Experience in the space of e-commerce and logistics (preferred).
• Experience in Generative AI (preferred).
• Experience in Agentic AI, LLMs, and NLP (preferred).
