Job Description

Zoho is currently recruiting motivated and technically skilled individuals to join our Cloud and Infrastructure Operations team. As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing Zoho’s global data center infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the continuous availability, optimal performance, and unwavering reliability of our diverse cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Linux and Cloud Infrastructure Management: Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in Linux operating systems and cloud infrastructure elements, encompassing virtualization technologies, load balancing mechanisms, and storage solutions.
• Data Center Operations: Actively participate in the comprehensive management of Zoho’s global data centers, overseeing the complete lifecycle of servers, storage systems, and all associated supporting infrastructure.
• Monitoring and Incident Management: Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation to ensure continuous monitoring of servers and applications. Conduct thorough root cause analysis (RCA) for all incidents and proactively implement preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
• Server Configuration and Provisioning: Execute automated Linux OS installations and configurations for large-scale deployments, utilizing industry-standard tools and established methodologies.
• Infrastructure Component Management: Administer essential infrastructure components, including DNS, DHCP, NTP, Proxy servers, OS Image Servers, and Load Balancers, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.
• Disaster Recovery Validation: Conduct regular validation exercises and rigorous testing of Disaster Recovery (DR) data centers located across multiple global sites to ensure business continuity.
• Automation and Tooling: Effectively utilize open-source automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible for configuration management and efficient package automation, streamlining operational processes.
• Scripting and Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance shell and Python scripts to automate routine operational tasks, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing manual effort.
• Networking Fundamentals: Possess a solid understanding of fundamental networking concepts, including VLAN, NAT, ARP, firewalls, and switch configuration, enabling effective troubleshooting and network management.
• Database and SaaS Components: Demonstrate a basic understanding of SaaS ecosystem components, including RDBMS, NoSQL databases, and Hadoop, to facilitate effective collaboration with related teams.
• Hardware Knowledge: Exhibit familiarity with server hardware components, including CPU specifications, various drive types, and internal architecture, enabling effective hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including network, DevOps, framework, and application development teams, to achieve common goals.
• Work Management: Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
• Continuous Learning: Exhibit a strong commitment to continuous learning and stay abreast of emerging technologies related to operating systems, hardware advancements, and cloud infrastructure innovations.
