Responsibilities
- Develop precise two-dimensional (2D) outlines of residential properties utilizing high-resolution aerial imagery within specialized online solar design software.
- Construct accurate three-dimensional (3D) models of homes by leveraging the 2D outlines in conjunction with the LIDAR capabilities integrated within the solar design platform.
- Model potential shading factors by accurately depicting surrounding environmental elements, including trees, obstructions, and adjacent buildings, to determine their impact on solar PV energy generation estimates.
- Create preliminary solar array layouts that are both aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient, carefully considering the client’s yearly energy consumption needs and aligning with relevant local regulatory requirements as dictated by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Adhere to strict project timelines, ensuring the prompt completion of solar design projects to meet and exceed established client commitments and expectations.
- Proactively seek and acquire comprehensive knowledge of AHJ regulations and utility design stipulations to guarantee full compliance with established industry standards and applicable safety regulations.
- Prepare and refine detailed layout drawings derived from preliminary concepts, initial sketches, technical specification sheets, and other supporting data documentation.
- Cultivate an in-depth understanding of the various components comprising a PV system, including solar modules, racking systems, inverters, and the broader Balance of Systems (BoS).
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in 2D AutoCAD software, including a strong command of layer management techniques and experience handling external references (XREF).
- A solid grounding in fundamental drafting principles coupled with a demonstrated aptitude for mathematical concepts and calculations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in the English language.
- Exceptional attention to detail, combined with strong problem-solving capabilities and effective organizational skills.
- The capacity to accurately interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings, as well as effectively utilize drawings prepared by other team members.
