Job Description

This internship offers an opportunity for aspiring Android Software Engineers to collaborate closely with experienced engineers at Branch. Interns will contribute meaningfully to the company’s products and codebase for a duration of 4 to 6 months. The role involves a comprehensive development cycle, including brainstorming, designing, coding, debugging, and deploying features that directly impact millions of customers. The internship is designed to foster skill development crucial for a successful career in software engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop functionality for existing and new product lines and platforms on the Android platform, including areas such as Lending, Investments, Wallet, Payments, KYC, and Customer lifecycle management.
• Integrate with a variety of third-party systems, such as payment gateways, identity verification services, and messaging platforms.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in building native Android applications beyond basic hobby projects; applications with real users or open-source contributions are highly valued.
• A robust understanding of fundamental computer science principles, the Android Software Development Kit (SDK), and established app architecture patterns.
• Proficiency in using Android Studio and the Android SDK.
• Familiarity with the broader mobile technology landscape, including common architectures, current trends, and emerging technologies.
• Experience working with various Unix environments and common command-line utilities.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language for Android development, such as Java or Kotlin.
• A highly entrepreneurial mindset, characterized by taking initiative to proactively solve problems and a track record of initiating or contributing to personal passion projects.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, understanding the importance of teamwork in a startup environment, including active listening, clear expression of ideas, and insightful questioning.
• Enthusiasm for working within a distributed team and company structure, engaging with colleagues globally, and a commitment to continuous learning.
