Job Description

This role encompasses the design, development, and maintenance of innovative eLearning solutions, with a specific focus on leveraging the Adapt Framework and related technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

• Template Design and Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop new, cutting-edge eLearning templates utilizing the Adapt Framework. These templates must adhere to contemporary eLearning standards and be designed to significantly enhance user engagement. A critical requirement is ensuring complete responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility across a diverse range of devices and platforms.
• Component Creation: Design and construct custom, reusable components within the Adapt Authoring Tool. These components should be tailored to provide specific functionalities or unique content displays that can be seamlessly integrated across various eLearning courses. Emphasis will be placed on creating versatile, accessible components that can be easily incorporated into both existing and newly developed templates.
• Innovation and Feature Implementation: Continuously explore and implement new features within the Adapt platform to drive innovation in eLearning design. This includes researching, testing, and deploying advancements that improve interactivity, enhance accessibility, and maximize learner engagement.
• Usability and Accessibility Testing: Conduct thorough testing of newly developed templates and components, with a particular emphasis on those built within the Adapt environment. Testing will focus on usability and accessibility, ensuring compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to deliver a seamless and inclusive user experience.
• Documentation and Guidelines Development: Create comprehensive documentation and detailed usage guidelines for all newly developed templates and components. This documentation will enable other developers and content creators to effectively utilize these new resources, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with instructional designers and UI/UX designers to ensure that all templates and components effectively meet predefined educational goals and align with established aesthetic standards. This collaborative approach is essential to delivering high-quality and impactful learning experiences.
• Feedback Integration: Actively solicit feedback from end-users and relevant stakeholders regarding the effectiveness of templates and components, with a specific focus on those developed within the Adapt framework. This feedback will be used to iterate on designs, enhance functionality, and continuously improve the overall user experience.
• Maintenance and Updates: Proactively maintain and update existing templates and components, particularly those created within the Adapt environment, by implementing new versions and carefully managing changes and enhancements through the use of robust version control systems.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
• Technical Expertise: The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of, and demonstrable experience with, eLearning tools, including the Adapt Authoring Tool and Adapt Framework. This expertise should include the ability to expertly create and manage custom templates, components, and extensions.
• Programming Skills: Must have strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, in addition to a solid understanding of Backbone.js for structuring web applications, especially within the context of the Adapt Framework.
• Backend Development: Experience in developing server-side logic using Node.js, with a particular focus on integrating with MongoDB for efficient and scalable database management.
• Experience with Responsive Design: Demonstrable experience in developing responsive web applications or eLearning modules, including those developed in Adapt, that function seamlessly across a wide range of devices and platforms is essential.
• Understanding of eLearning Standards: Familiarity with established eLearning standards, such as SCORM, xAPI, and AICC, is required. Furthermore, adherence to WCAG guidelines for accessibility is a critical requirement.
• Handlebars.js Experience: Proven proficiency in using Handlebars.js for creating efficient and reusable HBS templates that enhance frontend dynamics and significantly improve the overall user experience.
